We made a side trip to Edirne, Adrianople of old, and the capital of the Ottoman Empire before Istanbul. Now it's a small city close to the Greek and Bulgarian borders, but it has some wonderful historic architecture, such as the Selimiye mosque, considered to be Sinan's masterpiece. August 2, 2005.
