Downing another ayran from my favorite place in Beyoglu. Of course, it's a white drink against a white t-shirt, so it isn't very visible. But I consumed vast quantities of the stuff while I was there. OK, it's just yoghurt, water, and salt, so I could technically make it often in the US as well. But somehow it doesn't quite work. The yoghurt here is no good, and I can't get the variety I get in Turkey by sampling different batches from different shops. July 30, 2001.
